The Tennessee Chapter of Children’s Advocacy Center’s mission is to promote, assist, and support development, growth, and continuation of child advocacy centers in their service to abused and neglected children and their families.

The Tennessee Chapter of CACs is a statewide not-for-profit membership organization.

There are currently 32 Child Advocacy Centers who are members of the Tennessee Chapter of Children’s Advocacy Centers. An additional two CAC Task Forces are in various stages of development. Children’s Advocacy Centers are located in both rural and urban communities across the state, providing services to 87 counties. CACs work collaboratively with over 185 law enforcement agencies and 29 of the 31 Judicial Districts. From January-December 2006, Tennessee Chapter member programs served nearly 14,000 children in Tennessee.

In addition, the Tennessee Chapter provides technical assistance, training, and other resources to all communities seeking to plan, establish, expand, or sustain a Children’s Advocacy Center.

The Tennessee Chapter is a chapter member of the National Children’s Alliance.

The Tennessee Chapter of CACs was developed in 1996 by a small group of CAC Directors who felt it necessary to have an organized way of promoting CACs, disseminating information and having a central point of contact in the state for funding opportunities and information and resource sharing. TNCAC has been a member of National Children’s Alliance since 1996.
